Pain Relief Advances to a Toxin-Free Future

For the past several years, therapists working with players in the NFL have found that by detoxifying their player's diets and providing them nutrition high in anti-oxidants, they could get better sustained performance out of the players. The players also benefited from better over-all health after their careers. Yet, one problem the therapists ran into was that the pain management products the players used were loaded with toxins. We all know the deleterious effects of cortisone shots and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen; however, even the creams the players were using posed a threat to their toxin-free performance and long-term health.

For decades, pain creams have focused on quickly masking pain with heavy doses of menthol and aspirin derivatives like methyl salicylate, also labeled as wintergreen oil. The goal of these products was simple: interrupt pain receptors and provide an endorphin rush to affected tissue. The pain disappeared for a while, even though the underlying inflammation still existed and toxins, in the form of salicylic acid, alcohol, dyes and paraben, were left behind to build up over time. This sort of treatment may be acceptable for occasional use, but a frequent user could end up with severe health problems after prolonged use. Football players, in particular, could suffer additional injuries as they masked pain between workouts, but continued to stress inflamed and fragile muscles and joints.

About three years ago, after exhaustive research, a therapist working with players on several NFL teams developed a cream that not only met the toxin-free health criteria the players needed, but also proved to exceed other creams for performance and likeability among players. The cream was a true, toxin-free anti-inflammatory that attacked pain by eliminating underlying inflammation. Players used it before training and games to extend performance, and afterward to speed recovery. It proved to be effective on sprains, strains and even bruising. LaDainian Tomlinson of the San Diego Chargers referred to the cream as his “one stop shop for pain." He went on to become the number one running back in the nation and earn the 2006 NFL MVP without taking a single ibuprofen or cortisone shot that season.

After two seasons in use with the NFL, the cream was branded and released to the public as Myo-Med®. With its success already proven in the NFL and its main ingredients tested in double-blind clinical studies at the University of Connecticut, Myo-Med wasted no time generating a buzz in the pain products market. Endorsements from top athletes like Tom Brady (2007 NFL MVP), LaDainian Tomlinson (2006 NFL MVP), Willie McGinest (3-time Super Bowl Champion) and Lisa Leslie (3-time WNBA MVP) added to the validity of Myo-Med's pain relief claims. Within its first year on the market, Myo-Med had been adopted by health care professionals, national fitness chains, health stores, multi-sport retailers and pharmacies through the U.S. and Canada. Professional and amateur athletes in almost every sport have gravitated to Myo-Med, with unprecedented adoption rates among endurance runners. Health care professionals have found it to be one of the best and safest creams for use with arthritis, fibromyalgia and similar chronic pain conditions. Myo-Med is truly revolutionary in its ability to span across the pain relief needs of everyone from professional athletes to the aging and infirm.

Toxin-free is the calling card of a new era in pain relief at clinics, at home and even on the football field. And Myo-Med is leading the charge in this toxin-free revolution.
